Worship during the pandemic

 

Suggestions for worship opportunities and how to help others in worship can be found here, including service sheets to be printed at home. For those Methodists feeling the loss of communion, a short act of spiritual communion is available.

Low Sunday

Queen's Foundation

 

The Governors of the Queen’s Foundation have announced the appointment of Professor Clive Marsh to the role of Principal. Clive will succeed the Revd Canon Dr David Hewlett who retires this summer.

 

 

All We Can

 

In the world’s poorest communities people are having to face coronavirus without access to running water and soap. Living in cramped and unhygienic conditions, social distancing simply isn’t possible. All We Can and the Methodist Church in Britain have launched an Emergency Coronavirus Appeal to help equip vulnerable communities across the globe to combat coronavirus.

The coronavirus pandemic has forced many of us to take the plunge into video and live-streaming. It is easy to get started just using a smartphone and Facebook but how do we take things to the next level? Read our tips here

 

 

3Generate 

 

3Generate, the Methodist Children and Youth Assembly, is still preparing to take place 30 October to 1 November 2020 at the NEC Birmingham. The volunteer recruitment and planning process is already underway. You can find out more, apply to volunteer or to join one of the satellite planing groups on the 3Generate website pages.

 

 

West London Mission  

 

During this crisis the West London Mission are doing all they can to keep the vulnerable safe. Many have suffered trauma in the past and have underlying health conditions, they are struggling and are deeply anxious. Ordination Exploration Day

 

The next Ordination Exploration Day takes place on Saturday 2 May for those who wish explore a call to ordained ministry. Due to the current limitations, this event will be held online with additional resources to help you prepare. Global casefire

 

The Revd Dr Barbara Glasson and Prof Clive Marsh, President and Vice-President of the Methodist Conference, have released a statement to support a global ceasefire to help those whose lives have been disrupted by war and who now have to protect themselves from a new, deadly threat.

 

 

MHA

 

In an open letter to Methodists, the Chief Executive of MHA, Sam Monaghan, has appealed for support for the work they’re doing in what can be difficult and challenging conditions which can include prayer and volunteering. The President and Vice-President are praying for the work of the MHA and the safety of staff and clients. Chris Swift, MHA Director of Chaplaincy and Spirituality, offers a refelection and prayer below.

 

 

 

Video Thursday: In Christ Alone

 

On Easter Sunday, the National Methodist Choir of Great Britain performed its first  virtual performance, marking the launch of the All We Can Emergency Coronavirus Appeal, with a powerful and moving rendition of In Christ Alone.

 

 

 

 

Reflections

 

In the coming week, the 2019/2020 Methodist Prayer Handbook,
